The Best Day Ever!!!

As a kid, can you imagine the best day ever? There are probably a few possibilities, but what if you went to an amusement park and had the whole place to yourself? I imagine if I was a kid, that would definitely be classified in the best day ever category.

Since this last Saturday was our last one here before moving day, we decided that we would like to take the kids over to Six Flags one last time and use our passes. It has a Holiday in the Park theme right now so we thought it would be a memorable treat for the kids. Unfortunately the weather was very Oregon like and was pouring all day. But luckily we are true Oregonians and don't scare as easily as most around here.

As a protective mom, I wasn't about to expose my newborn to the elements (we both have colds at the moment), so I opted to keep Lily and Carter home so that Peter and the 3 big kids could go and try to have some fun in the rain.

So bundled in coats and hats and armed with umbrellas, the four of them went off for their adventure. Usually when you get to the six flags parking lot there are thousands of cars, but this day there were maybe 20! It was raining when they arrived, but by the time they got to the gate, it had stopped.

Peter and the kids had the whole place to themselves pretty much! At Looney Tunes Land they went for about an hour without seeing anyone else. They could just go on any ride for as long as they wanted. They spent lots of time at the indoor play area with Nerf type ball guns and slides.

Then they went to a puppet show with Scrooge and since there was no one else there, it was interactive with our kids. They got to talk to him and tell them all about themselves. Then they looked at the sting rays, went on the kiddie roller coaster, airplane ride, and the hot air balloon ride. Our favorite animal at six flags is the giant 8000 pound walrus. He is totally social every time we go and presses his face against the glass, follows you, and claps. He is adorable and since there was no one else around he really interacted with the kids.

The only big disappointment was that Tanner's favorite thing ever, riding on Thomas was closed because of the rain. Thomas was all decorated though so they got to see him.

After that, they ran through the Christmas tree forest all decked out and saw the giant Christmas tree lighting. There was a fire to get warm by and lots of caroling. There was also just about every Christmas character you can imagine. Reindeer, Santa, Frosty, etc.

After a few more rides including the awesome gorilla ride and tilta-whirl, they got to do sledding with REAL snow! They did that a few times since there was no line of course.

One of the most magical moments was the Christmas show. It was a play about a little girl who wishes her presents would come to life. There was no one else watching in a theatre for hundreds, so the characters kept coming up to the kids and waving at them. The kids loved it. It even started to pour, but they didn't even notice. The ballerina gave them them her umbrella to use. Then they went to a Frosty the Snowman show and got to see him come to life and meet him. They filled up on pizza and had to see the Shouka whale show.

Finally before leaving, they got to go see Santa and Mrs. Claus. They spent about 20 minutes with him telling him what they wanted and how he needs to find their new blue house on Christmas. There was also a live Christmas band that they enjoyed.

The weather wasn't perfect, but the kids had so much fun that no one complained and they stuck it out from 3PM to 9PM. Our big stroller worked out well with its rain cover. When it poured the kids got in and stayed completely dry. Other than that, they just used umbrellas and stayed bundled up.

I was home totally jealous the whole time, but I am so happy that they went. I am sure that the kids will always remember the Christmas that they had Six Flags all to themselves.
